What I've Done (Linkin Park song) Music Video

Courtesy of Warner Bros. Records Intel Music Group (IMG)

The music video for "What I've Done" explores the many ironies of humanity and its ill effects on the earth and the environment. It juxtaposes various pieces of footage: a large, well-fed man eating fast food, a woman measuring her waist and a man who is so malnourished that his ribcage is visible through his skin; African Americans being hosed down and the Ku Klux Klan; nuclear explosions, the World Trade Center towers collapsing, children waving American flags, a Middle Eastern child holding an AK-47, clips of oil tankers torn in half and birds covered in an oil slick. The band's turntablist Joe Hahn directed the video for the single, which was shot in the California desert. The video premiered on April 2, 2007 on MTV and Fuse. It premiered on MTV-Asia, MTV-Germany, TMF Netherlands and Canada's MuchMusic on April 3, 2007.

It features footage of the band performing in the desert, interspersed with stock footage reflecting on a variety of social and environmental issues including pollution, global warming, racism, Nazism, the Ku Klux Klan, abortion, starvation, terrorism, warfare, deforestation, poverty, drug addiction, obesity, destruction, rising gasoline prices and crimes committed by humanity. The video also features short views of important historical figures, such as Mother Teresa, Abraham Lincoln, Robert Kennedy, Fidel Castro, Saddam Hussein, Joseph Stalin, Adolf Hitler, Benito Mussolini, Mao Zedong, and Mahatma Gandhi. Some cut scenes like the traffic scene and the napalm exploding were also featured on the Rise Against music video for Ready To Fall.

The video clip was featured and won on MTV's Battle of the Videos against videos by Evanescence ("Sweet Sacrifice") and Lil' Mama ("Lip Gloss"). The video also marks the first appearance of a Linkin Park video in the #1 spot on MTV's TRL, hitting #1 six times so far. The video was among the all-time top 50 most viewed on YouTube with over 36 million views but was removed as a result of Warner Music Group's feud with YouTube. AOL currently has a live performance of "What I've Done" on their website.

The following is a non-exhaustive list of historical and/or stock footage in the music video:

簡介

In today’s modern era, the Malaysian community comprising of various races and many ethnic groups still value the rich legacy of traditional costumes worn during important occasions such as weddings. Each rthnic group has their own heritage of wedding costumes that are unique in their own styles and designs.

On the most important day, the attire worn is very beautiful, special yet traditional. The chinese and Indian couples wear red, while the Orang Ulu and Bajau are colourfully dressed and the Malay couple wears a matching outfit complete with accessories as king and queen for the day.

However, all wedding costumes are similar in that bride and bridegroom look outstanding and magnificent in their bright coloured and grand ensemble, complete with beautiful headdress, unique accessories and magnificent jewellery worn only during weddings.

Cina新娘身披sepasang jaket bersama kain panjang sutera disulami pelepeh burung phoenix;新郎穿上jubah panjang kain sutera bersulam naga bersama dengan topi hitam berambu merah。

India新娘衣着sari bersama blaus sutera bersulam benang emas;新郎披上vashtee iaitu baju jenis kemeja berlengan panjang beserta kain kapas ditenuni benang emas。

India
India

Persuade the Government of Malaysia to become a Party to ICCPR!

To All Concerned Malaysians:

Kindly sign the following petition to show your rejection on ISA, thx! =)
http://www.petitiononline.com/my4iccpr/petition.html

To: The Government of Malaysia

In order to ensure the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, United Nations (OHCHR-UNOG) functioning under its related UN Treaty, International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR) are able to intervene on the abuse of ISA, we shall raise a petition online to persuade the government of Malaysia to become a party to ICCPR, by signing and ratifying it.

"But i'm in confusion now...

I doubt (and i afraid) i don't really believe in it, i'm just playing the devil's advocate. =(

What About Now (Daughtry song) Music Video

Courtesy of Sony BMG Music

This Music video is a social commentary, depicting several people and places affected by poverty, natural disasters, and war, as well as other world issues. Several comments are made about these issues, and the video also asks introspective questions to the viewer. Certain people who are working to help these problems are shown throughout the video, with their names and what they're associated with listed. The video features a light bulb that has not yet burned out, which symbolizes that it's not too late to make a difference. The video concludes with one final question to the viewer, "What About Now?", shown next to the burning light bulb. A few shots of the band playing the song live are also shown in the video.

Aliran : A letter to all concerned Malaysians

Dear fellow Malaysians

For over 30 years, Aliran has been a beacon for Malaysian society in
many important ways. Aliran provides a rallying point for citizens and
civic organisations concerned with freedom, justice and democracy.
Aliran defends civil liberties and human rights, and promotes
inter-ethnic and inter-religious respect. More than that, Aliran
advances the causes of marginalised communities, disadvantaged groups
and persecuted individuals who are too often bereft of any opportunity
to speak for themselves.

To carry out these tasks, Aliran depends on limited financial resources
derived from Aliran Monthly subscriptions and sales as well as donations
made by our members, subscribers and other well-wishers. Our writers,
members and other supporters receive no payment for their tireless
services.

For our operational expenses, we receive no funding whatsoever from any
government or opposition political party, corporation or foreign source.
We intend to keep things that way to safeguard our autonomy.

The cost of producing Aliran Monthly, disseminating information and
publications, networking with other civic organisations, and organising
public talks and forums has risen considerably. In truth, we are
incurring deficits every month.

To maintain our crucial public service, we sincerely appeal to you to
respond in any of the following ways:

• Make a donation to Aliran. How to make a donation:

AHRC Human Rights Correspondence School (HRCS)

Lesson series 16: National Security Laws (Internal Security Act, Emergency Laws etc.,)

Through ISA governments give themselves and their agents the authority to implement acts which in normal circumstances would be illegal.

Illegal arrests, detentions and unfair trials under the Internal Security Act (ISA).

Since the enactment of the ISA in 1960, thousands of people, including trade unionists, student leders, labour activists, politicians, academicians, NGO activitsts and members of religious groups, have been arrested and detained without trial for indefinite periods. The ISA provides for “preventive” detention without charge or trial, solely on basis of the opinion of the Minister for Home Affairs that the detention is necessary in order to safeguard the security of the nation. Former detainees have reported that they have been tortured, especially in the first 60 days of solitary confinement and incommunicado detention in a police cell, when they are pressured to admit to the alleged crimes.

Q. Who has the obligation to supervise the observance of these limitations?

A. The Judiciary in the country

In particular, the higher judiciary. Thus, the need to hold the judiciary accountable.

For example, it will be useful to study what has happened in Malaysia in recent decades. At present, the ISA is used by the Malaysian government without there being any National Emergency. The ISA is being used as the “normal” law and not as law imposed during extremely abnormal situations. In this way, the liberty and civil rights of the citizens is at the mercy of the politicians or a politician.

Questions:

1. What role has the Judiciary in your country played with regard to national security laws?

2. What happens when the Judiciary does not intervene to examine the validity of government use of such laws?

3. Do you have similar cases from your own country or other countries you know?

B. UNITED NATIONS Human Rights bodies

T here is urgent need to encourage states to become parties to UN Treaties, by signing and ratifying, in this case, at least the ICCPR

Example: Malaysia is not a party to ICCPR. Thus, the UN bodies functioning under ICCPR are unable to intervene on gross violations of human rights there and on the abuse of ISA.

IV. Some Problems for discussion

1. A group of persons who have not violated any normal laws are kept under detention. The authorities claim that the detention is justified under ISA. How will you criticize this position? What will you do to get these people released? What will you do to abolish the ISA?

2. ISA regulations state that the Judiciary has no right to examine it or to declare it invalid. How will you criticize it? What action will you take to nullify it or abolish it?

3. If some bad judges do not want to hear cases regarding ISA or similar laws, what will you do?

Future lessons will deal with other areas of the SA such as freedom of expression and access to information.

Isolation

I need neither kinship nor friendship.
What i need is to be alone to think... to find out...
The one thing that's got me through everything in my life... The one thing i could always trust... has been my isolation.. which has never been more certain than it is right NOW.
Therefore, please keep your hands off, asshole! ... and then leave me alone... all my life. I beg mercy of Your Satanic Majesty.
What the hell am i going to be? Yup, i might going to be driven mad soon... i guess (and i afraid).
I hate myself. =(
